ABSTRACT:

ETRA I+D coordinates the ECLIPSE project, within the Digital Europe programme of the European Commission, whose main objective is the implementation and demonstration of a Common European Reference Framework (CERF) for energy consumption applications in the domestic sphere.

Digital technology solutions for energy monitoring have enormous potential to increase energy efficiency and load shifting, avoiding imbalances in the network and power outages. Today, there are several end-user applications and platforms that provide greater control of energy use, providing information to end consumers about the necessary changes in their habits and strategies on a voluntary basis, to reduce their energy consumption and increase the flexibility and stability of the network. In this context, the objective of the ECLIPSE project is the development of a Common European Reference Framework (CERF) for energy consumer applications throughout the EU, allowing voluntary reductions in energy consumption and load shifting, based on recommendations, strategies and incentives.

Specifically, the ECLIPSE project lays the foundation for the development of new and improved energy applications that provide consumers with simple, useful and easy-to-use information on energy savings and other benefits (such as CO2 reduction and other economic and social incentives). In this way, it seeks to promote sustainable energy consumption behaviour and the empowerment of end consumers, while strengthening the stability and resilience of European electricity networks.

ECLIPSE is developed by a consortium of 23 partners from 13 European countries, has a budget of €9.8 million and a duration of 24 months. The project solutions are implemented and demonstrated in 16 EU countries, ensuring interoperability with third-party systems while respecting the regulatory framework.
