It is becoming increasingly common to see electric vehicles (EVs) on our streets and more and more users are opting for this type of vehicle to develop their mobility. However, this reality, which has positive implications for climate and traffic calming, among many others, brings its own challenges that need to be addressed. Urban mobility professionals and policy makers and drafters are the first to be interested in knowing specific aspects related to EVs.
Parking space for this type of vehicle is one of the main issues to be addressed, but it is not the only one. It is also necessary to rethink the organization, control and management of EV recharging in a safe and environmentally friendly way that benefits all the actors involved. For all these reasons, the online course “Recharging infrastructure planning in urban mobility” has been designed.
The European projects MEISTER and USER-CHI, both coordinated by ETRA GROUP, together with the GreenCharge project and CIVITAS ELEVATE have created this online course, where the two European projects have reflected in the content their best practices, tools and results. The course, through five differentiated blocks, offers users the possibility to get an overview of current developments, challenges and perspectives on charging infrastructure in urban mobility.
The contents of the online course are available in English through this link and the completion times are free, i.e., each person can complete the course materials using the time they need.
From ETRA GROUP, thanks to our extensive experience in the mobility sector, we contribute to broaden the knowledge of professionals and citizens by reflecting, in the exposed material, the learning and results of the European projects we manage.

The transformation and remodeling of old buildings into benchmarks of sustainability is one of GRUPO ETRA’s lines of work. La Nave project of the Madrid City Council has consisted of the recovery and modernization of an old lift factory in a unique space in the south of the Spanish capital.
La Nave develops its activity in the south of Madrid with the aim of promoting innovation, being a meeting point for startups and creators who find in this unique space the right conditions to develop and grow.
A benchmark building in sustainability
Innovation springs from every part of the building and this is reflected in the energy heart of La Nave. ETRA, a leading company in intelligent energy projects in Europe, has designed and supervised the energy management systems. All this from three perspectives: installations, monitoring and user service.
The building has a powerful photovoltaic generation system which, thanks to the combination with the installation’s storage system, generates significant daily savings. With the volume generated by this system, it is possible to cover part of the complex’s demand, feed the charging points for electric vehicles or dump the surplus from the grid.
The ETRA GROUP has also provided its advanced BESOS intelligent energy efficiency management platform to monitor and manage the system. BESOS is a powerful software that makes it possible to control the generation and consumption of the building, achieving a significant optimisation of resources and greater energy efficiency.
The citizens; central axis of the project
This ambitious energy management system has been developed and implemented with the benefit of the citizens in mind. One of the most important examples is the charging points for electric vehicles. ETRA’s applications allow the driver to obtain information about the available points, as well as the charging capacity of each charging point according to their profile or the available tariff according to the period and price of energy.

The use of 5G technology applied to advanced emergency management allows for fast and efficient connectivity in critical situations arising from any type of incident or catastrophe. The drones are equipped with loT sensors to measure the necessary parameters for emergency management. Then, thanks to the connectivity offered by the 5G network, the information is sent with low latency and in real time to the platform to proceed with its management.
This case developed by ETRA is part of the 5G Valencia pilot project of Red.es, within the National 5G Plan and the National Plan for Intelligent Territories. Both plans are promoted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation and co-financed with FEDER funds. This 5G project is managed by the UTE 5G Valencia, which is led by Orange and composed of companies such as Arborea Intellbird, CFZ Cobots, Idrica, Visyon (Mediapro Group), Elewit (REE), Robotnik and ETRA GROUP.
The aim of these national plans is to promote and develop 5G technology and associated techniques, as well as to implement use cases with the involvement of agents to improve the management of emergency situations.
ETRA GROUP attended Global Mobility Call
The Global Mobility Call, the largest convergent platform for all sectors involved in the development of sustainable mobility, was held at IFEMA MADRID from June 14 to 16.
The event, in which ETRA is part of the allied partners, has offered an unprecedented opportunity in the future of a decarbonized, safe, digitized and respectful of the planet and people’s health, aligned with the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), the Paris Agreement and the European Green Pact.
A congress full of speakers
Global Mobility Call has responded to the urgent need to bring together all the actors involved in sustainable mobility at this time of profound change and transformation.
Likewise, the congress has given voice to more than 100 speakers who have offered their point of view and experience on topics as diverse as the transformation of the automotive industry, multimodality and intermodality of air, maritime and land transport, public-private collaboration…
It is worth mentioning the presence of our colleague Antonio Marqués, director of technology and innovation at ETRA I+D, who on June 15 presented different technological proposals for greater citizen participation in the management of the mobility of people and goods.
Leader in sustainable mobility
The congress brought together more than 4,500 attendees in person and 13,000 online, on its Live Connect platform. Users connected from more than 40 countries and, to date, more than 1.5 million views have been registered.
The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, closed the event on June 16 and said that the Forum “is the best example of the capacity for resilience, of the ambition to transform, of the essential collaboration between the public and private sectors”.
ETRA is delighted to be able to participate in events of this caliber, where we can share our knowledge and present our innovative technological solutions in the context of more than interesting presentations and panel discussions. A constant learning that allows us to improve more and more the Sustainable Mobility Ecosystem.
