GRUPO ETRA recovers and modernises the La Nave building in Madrid

The transformation and remodeling of old buildings into benchmarks of sustainability is one of GRUPO ETRA’s lines of work. La Nave project of the Madrid City Council has consisted of the recovery and modernization of an old lift factory in a unique space in the south of the Spanish capital.

La Nave develops its activity in the south of Madrid with the aim of promoting innovation, being a meeting point for startups and creators who find in this unique space the right conditions to develop and grow.

A benchmark building in sustainability

Innovation springs from every part of the building and this is reflected in the energy heart of La Nave. ETRA, a leading company in intelligent energy projects in Europe, has designed and supervised the energy management systems. All this from three perspectives: installations, monitoring and user service.

The building has a powerful photovoltaic generation system which, thanks to the combination with the installation’s storage system, generates significant daily savings. With the volume generated by this system, it is possible to cover part of the complex’s demand, feed the charging points for electric vehicles or dump the surplus from the grid.

The ETRA GROUP has also provided its advanced BESOS intelligent energy efficiency management platform to monitor and manage the system. BESOS is a powerful software that makes it possible to control the generation and consumption of the building, achieving a significant optimisation of resources and greater energy efficiency.

The citizens; central axis of the project

This ambitious energy management system has been developed and implemented with the benefit of the citizens in mind. One of the most important examples is the charging points for electric vehicles. ETRA’s applications allow the driver to obtain information about the available points, as well as the charging capacity of each charging point according to their profile or the available tariff according to the period and price of energy.

ETRA GROUP presents its latest innovations in technology at the “EuroScience Open Forum 2022”

Last July, ETRA, as a partner of the European MAtchUp project, participated in the “EuroScience Open Forum 2022” (ESOF2022), the largest interdisciplinary meeting on science and innovation in Europe.

The tenth edition of ESOF2022, under the theme “Crossing borders, engaged science, resilient societies”, addressed the current need to pool scientific knowledge to solve the challenges jointly and innovatively we face today. The meeting aims to create strong alliances between scientists, policy makers, media and the general public to tackle today’s complex problems.

Innovative technologies from ETRA

During the event, three innovative technologies carried out by ETRA GROUP were presented:

  1. The platform for the management of electric vehicle charging points,
  2. The tool for detecting free parking spaces using artificial intelligence techniques,
  3. The web application aimed at users, which helps them to find parking spaces with available charging points.

ETRA is in the top 1% of the most innovative companies in Europe. Thanks to the strong investment in R&D&I, the group participates in the development of new tech trends, provides solutions to specific societal problems and collaborates with the most advanced tech players of the world in the context of the European Union’s framework programmes.

Successful conclusion of the European CROSSBOW project, led by ETRA GROUP

Last June, the European project CROSSBOW, framed in the H2020 programme and coordinated by ETRA R&D, successfully completed the work carried out during four and a half years.

CROSSBOW is one of the largest projects funded under the European Commission’s Research and Innovation Programme, Horizon 2020, and has enabled a successful deployment of technological solutions that have increased the exchange of resources for the promotion of cross-border management.

A transnational project

The main objective of the project, which marks a milestone in its sector, is the provision of tools that facilitate cross-border collaboration between different TSOs (energy transmission infrastructure operators). CROSSBOW offers the regional transmission grid greater flexibility and robustness through these four aspects:

  • Improved control of exchange power at international interconnection points
  • New energy storage solutions
  • Improved communications and control
  • A clear definition of a transnational wholesale market, proposing a fair and sustainable remuneration for clean energy by defining new business models that support the participation of new actors and cost reduction.

The implementation of the project has also had a significant social and ecological impact. Thanks to CROSSBOW, more than 70,000 jobs have been created, the quality of energy services for more than 55 million citizens has improved, 3 tons of GHG have been saved and, finally, the increase in RES share (15.2 TWh) has reached 10%.

You can find the main results of the project on their YouTube channel.
