Successful conclusion of the European CROSSBOW project, led by ETRA GROUP
Last June, the European project CROSSBOW, framed in the H2020 programme and coordinated by ETRA R&D, successfully completed the work carried out during four and a half years.
CROSSBOW is one of the largest projects funded under the European Commission’s Research and Innovation Programme, Horizon 2020, and has enabled a successful deployment of technological solutions that have increased the exchange of resources for the promotion of cross-border management.
A transnational project
The main objective of the project, which marks a milestone in its sector, is the provision of tools that facilitate cross-border collaboration between different TSOs (energy transmission infrastructure operators). CROSSBOW offers the regional transmission grid greater flexibility and robustness through these four aspects:
- Improved control of exchange power at international interconnection points
- New energy storage solutions
- Improved communications and control
- A clear definition of a transnational wholesale market, proposing a fair and sustainable remuneration for clean energy by defining new business models that support the participation of new actors and cost reduction.
The implementation of the project has also had a significant social and ecological impact. Thanks to CROSSBOW, more than 70,000 jobs have been created, the quality of energy services for more than 55 million citizens has improved, 3 tons of GHG have been saved and, finally, the increase in RES share (15.2 TWh) has reached 10%.
You can find the main results of the project on their YouTube channel.
