GRUPOETRA kicks off its most recent large scale project in the area of renewable energies and smart grids.
The kick off meeting of GRUPOETRA led European project CROSSBOW took place in November at Bulgaria’s capital, Sofia. The event counted with the presence of the Ministry of Energy of the Bulgarian Government. In addition, representatives from the European Union and the Embassy of Spain in Bulgaria were also attended.
The project has a budget of 22M€ (partly funded by the EU). This will have a duration of 48 months and a consortium formed by 26 partners from 13 countries. This project is without doubts the most important one on renewables and smart grid currently ongoing in South Eastern Europe.
Together with technologic partners from Spain, Germany, Austria, UK and Slovenia, the project counts with the active participation of the TSOs (Transmission Services Operators) from 8 countries: Bulgaria, Romania, Greece, Montenegro, FYR of Macedonia, Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia.
CROSSBOW will propose the shared use of resources to foster cross-border management of variable renewable energies and storage units, enabling a higher penetration of clean energies whilst reducing network operational costs and improving economic benefits of RES and storage units.
Finally, this ambitious and challenging project positions GRUPOETRA as a key player in the sectors of RES and smart grids in Europe.
