AUGMENTED CCAM – Augmenting and Evaluating the Physical and Digital Infrastructure for CCAM deployment

PROGRAMME: EU Horizon Europe

ABSTRACT:

Connected mobility aims to improve road safety for all users. To achieve this, it is essential to extend the Operational Design Domain (ODD) of Autonomous Vehicles, which is currently very limited. One of the factors preventing this extension is the lack of readiness of the Physical and Digital Infrastructure (PDI) of the transport network. Nevertheless, the absence of information and guidance to the PDI adaptations and which are the priority actions to perform, prevents the network renovation.

The AUGMENTED CCAM project focuses on understanding, harmonizing, and evaluating proposed solutions to support the Physical, Digital, and Communications Infrastructure (PDI), in order to enable the large-scale development of CCAM solutions, while also addressing deficiencies and challenges related to infrastructure modernization.

AUGMENTED CCAM has a budget of 11 M€ (co-financed by the EU under the Horizon Europe program), with a duration of 40 months and a consortium made up of 26 partners from 13 different countries. The project develops 11 PDI solutions to be validated in 7 test sites in France, Spain, and Latvia. ETRA is the overall Madrid test site leader, being also a key technical provider for the entire project.
