FLEXCoop – Democratising the energy market through introduction of innovative demand response tools and novel business models for energy cooperatives.

PROGRAMME: EU H2020

ABSTRACT:

FLEXCoop provides electricity cooperatives with advanced new tools to exploit efficiently residential consumers’ demand flexibility (at home level), providing balancing and ancillary resources towards grid stability and alleviation of network constraints. The idea is to displace the energy consumption of residents to day-hours with low peak of demand, without compromising the user’s comfort. The objective is to provide the electricity cooperatives with technology that allows them to explore new demand response business, and assume the role of aggregators, as well as to incentive self-consumption of renewable energy.

This project has a budget of 4M€ (co-funded by the EU under the H2020 programme). It has a duration of 36 months and the consortium working on it is formed by 13 partners from 9 countries.

The consortium counts with two energy cooperatives in the Netherlands and Spain, different excellent European research centers, the Danish Technical University (DTU), the European federation of groups and cooperatives of the renewable energy sector (Rescoop), and energy companies.
