Dado que el 80% del territorio de la UE est\u00e1 cubierto por bosques y tierras agr\u00edcolas, la acci\u00f3n clim\u00e1tica en las zonas rurales es fundamental para contribuir a la lucha contra el cambio clim\u00e1tico. Los resultados del proyecto ECOLOOP se centran en promover la reducci\u00f3n de la huella de carbono en zonas rurales mediante una mayor penetraci\u00f3n de fuentes de energ\u00eda renovables distribuidas, autoconsumo y una gesti\u00f3n \u00f3ptima de los residuos agr\u00edcolas y forestales, creando al mismo tiempo efectos positivos en la biodiversidad y la salud del suelo y reduciendo as\u00ed el riesgo de contaminaci\u00f3n de las aguas subterr\u00e1neas. As 80% of the EU\u2019s territory is covered by forests and agricultural land, climate action in rural areas is fundamental to contribute on fighting climate change. ECOLOOP project solutions focus on promoting the reduction of carbon footprint in rural areas by means of higher penetration of distributed renewable energy sources, self-consumption and an optimal agricultural\/forest waste management, while creating positive effects in biodiversity and soil health and reducing the risk on groundwater contamination.
