In a big step toward a more independent and sustainable energy future, the ECLIPSE DIGITAL PROJECT, led by the company ETRA, recently organised the workshop called \u201cFrom Data to Action: How Digitalisation Accelerates the Energy Transition.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event brought together five major EU-funded projects to show how digitalization is transforming Europe\u2019s energy system, from a traditional, centralized model to a more digital, flexible, and decentralized ecosystem.<\/p>\n

A Unified Vision for a European \u201cDigital backbone\u201d<\/h2>\n

The workshop opened with a keynote from Ms. Patricia Arsene<\/strong> (European Commission, DG CONNECT), highlighting<\/p>\n

the European Commission’s strategic push for a “digital<\/strong> backbone<\/strong>” of the EU energy system. This vision focuses on the digital orchestration of energy assets<\/strong>, such as renewables, electric vehicles, and batteries, ensuring they can intercommunicate seamlessly. The goal is ensuring interoperability<\/strong> so that data can flow across borders to enable new services and maintain network stability, throughout Europe.<\/p>\n

ECLIPSE DIGITAL PROJECT: Connecting Consumers to the Energy Transition<\/h2>\n

At the heart of this digital transformation is the ECLIPSE DIGITAL PROJECT<\/a>, which is developing the Common European\u00a0<\/strong>Reference Framework (CERF)<\/strong>\u00a0for energy applications. The CERF defines the common requirements and conditions for consumers energy apps<\/strong> to operate across countries, grids, and third\u2011party systems without compatibility issues. Its purpose is to make digital energy services interoperable, secure, user-friendly, and beneficial for both consumers and the grid.<\/p>\n

During the workshop, the ECLIPSE DIGITAL PROJECT<\/strong> team showed a pioneering mobile energy app based on CERF, that serves as a practical example of how the CERF can be implemented to provide:<\/p>\n
