The MEISTER and USER-CHI projects coordinated by GRUPO ETRA present their tools in an online course on charging infrastructures in urban mobility.

It is becoming increasingly common to see electric vehicles (EVs) on our streets and more and more users are opting for this type of vehicle to develop their mobility. However, this reality, which has positive implications for climate and traffic calming, among many others, brings its own challenges that need to be addressed. Urban mobility professionals and policy makers and drafters are the first to be interested in knowing specific aspects related to EVs.

Parking space for this type of vehicle is one of the main issues to be addressed, but it is not the only one. It is also necessary to rethink the organization, control and management of EV recharging in a safe and environmentally friendly way that benefits all the actors involved. For all these reasons, the online course “Recharging infrastructure planning in urban mobility” has been designed.

The European projects MEISTER and USER-CHI, both coordinated by ETRA GROUP, together with the GreenCharge project and CIVITAS ELEVATE have created this online course, where the two European projects have reflected in the content their best practices, tools and results. The course, through five differentiated blocks, offers users the possibility to get an overview of current developments, challenges and perspectives on charging infrastructure in urban mobility.

The contents of the online course are available in English through this link and the completion times are free, i.e., each person can complete the course materials using the time they need.

From ETRA GROUP, thanks to our extensive experience in the mobility sector, we contribute to broaden the knowledge of professionals and citizens by reflecting, in the exposed material, the learning and results of the European projects we manage.

ETRA GROUP presents its latest solutions in mobility, energy and security at Smart City Expo World Congress

Smart City Expo World Congress (#SCEWC22) celebrates its eleventh edition in Barcelona with the presence, once again, of ETRA GROUP, who presented its latest developments in the field of Smart City solutions, both in the areas of Mobility and Energy and Security, highlighting ETRA’s solutions in the field of drones and anti-drone systems.

SCEWC22, which took place a few weeks ago, is the main international event focused on cities, where the aim is to enhance urban environments and collectivize innovation worldwide, by promoting social innovation and identifying opportunities for collaboration. The meeting seeks to create a better future for cities and their citizens.

Implementing solutions that improve the quality of life

ETRA GROUP played a prominent role during the event, both by setting up its own stand, where it explained to attendees the advantages offered by Smart Cities to improve the quality of life of citizens, and by the participation of Antonio Marqués, ETRA’s Director of Technology and Innovation, in the round table “A positive industry within a smart city”.

The conference claimed the importance of the industrial sector in the economic and innovative development of cities and the great weight of this sector to carry out an effective ecological transition. There, Marqués presented the main actions developed by the business group in the implementation of modern and innovative public transport to improve the welfare of citizens.

From ETRA GROUP, as a leading company in the transport and energy sector, we are proud to be able to share our projects and innovative solutions in one of the world’s largest Smart Cities events.

ETRA GROUP played a leading role in the meeting “Sustainable and digital reindustrialization: the great challenge”, organized by AMETIC

The Multisectorial Association of Spanish Electronics and Communications Companies (AMETIC) held a few dates ago the 36th edition of the Meeting of the Digital Economy and Telecommunications under the title “Sustainable and digital reindustrialization: the great challenge” and in which ETRA GROUP played a leading role.

The main public and private players in the technology industry met once again this year at the benchmark event for the sector in Spain to discuss the present and future of a sector that has a significant impact on the economic, industrial and social development of the country.

Innovative solutions for real problems

Antonio Marqués, ETRA’s Director of Technology and Innovation, participated on behalf of the business group as a speaker at the round table “Energy Management of Smarticities”, moderated by Adolfo Borrero, President of the Smart Cities Commission of AMETIC.

The round table highlighted the need to empower public managers to improve the use of their resources, as well as to encourage citizens to decide on the future of their cities.

In this sense, Marqués offered details about ELECTRA, the solution that ETRA proposes for the electrification of public transport fleet depots, which is called to play a key role in the process of digital and ecological transformation of urban public transport, a fundamental element in the decarbonization of our cities.

From ETRA GROUP we provide the technology that manages more than 25,000 public transport vehicles worldwide, as well as more than 10,000 traffic-light intersections. The strong investment we make in R&D&I, together with our more than 40 years in the market, allows us to respond with the most advanced technological solutions to the most complex challenges.

ETRA presents the European project USER-CHI at the ITS European Congress

USERCHI, a European project framed in the Horizon 2020 program, has as main objective to promote electric mobility in Europe. The representatives of this project had the opportunity to participate in the main event of intelligent transport systems in Europe this year, held from May 30 to June 1 in the city of Toulouse.

Indeed, ETRA I+D participated in the ITS European Congress presenting the project during the Special Interest Session 53 on “Improving EV Charging infrastructure in European urban areas”.

During this session, the improvement in the user experience in the recharging of electric vehicles was examined and the most recent advances to convert the recharging of electric vehicles into a more sustainable, accessible and economically profitable process were shown. Finally, two other projects on charging electric vehicles, eCharge4Drivers and INCIT-EV, were discussed.

The session was moderated by Dr. Evangelia Portouli (ICCS, Greece) together with the speakers Anagnostopoulou (ICCS, Greece) and Lieselot Vanhaverbeke (VUB, Belgium) for the eCharge4Drivers project. The INCIT-EV project was represented by Maurizio Arnone (LINKS Foundation, Italy); and the USER-CHI project was presented by María Tomás (ETRA, Spain) and Silvia Valero (Barcelona Metropolitan Area, Spain).

Together, they shared actions to seamlessly and efficiently integrate electric vehicle recharging infrastructures. As well as innovative solutions for the adoption of recharging electric vehicles in urban areas and in interurban corridors were also proposed.

The USERCHI project is part of the enormous R&D activity that ETRA develops at a national and European level (H2020 and Horizon Europe), and which aims to transform the most advanced technologies into solutions that allow improving the quality of people and protect the planet.
