ETRA GROUP’s commitment to the energy transition at the European Sustainable Energy Week 2022

The European Climate Infrastructure and Environment Agency (CINEA) is organizing the European Sustainable Energy Week 2022 in Brussels from September 26 to 29. This event brings together hundreds of public administrations, companies and leading organizations in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector.

Under the slogan “Going green and digital for Europe’s energy transition”, it includes activities to promote a secure energy future and a hybrid energy fair where the most innovative projects in sustainable energies and “Energy Talks” dedicated to clean energies are shown.

Also during the event, the European Sustainable Energy Awards were held to recognize outstanding individuals and projects for their innovation and efforts in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energies, and the European Youth Energy Day (EYED).

ETRA GROUP, a benchmark in sustainability and innovation

From ETRA GROUP we contribute to the sustainable energy transition focused on improving the quality of life of citizens while taking care of the planet, integrating the most advanced and innovative technologies in the sector.

This commitment is reflected in a very significant way in the coordination of the European projects X-Flex, Trinity and CROSSBOW, within the EU’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation (R&I) Program, focused on the adoption of renewable energies and their efficient use.

At ETRA GROUP, as a worldwide reference player, we integrate the latest developments in technology throughout the value chain thanks to our strong investment in R&D&I, which allows us to participate in the development of new technologies and solve specific problems of the public.

Successful conclusion of the European CROSSBOW project, led by ETRA GROUP

Last June, the European project CROSSBOW, framed in the H2020 programme and coordinated by ETRA R&D, successfully completed the work carried out during four and a half years.

CROSSBOW is one of the largest projects funded under the European Commission’s Research and Innovation Programme, Horizon 2020, and has enabled a successful deployment of technological solutions that have increased the exchange of resources for the promotion of cross-border management.

A transnational project

The main objective of the project, which marks a milestone in its sector, is the provision of tools that facilitate cross-border collaboration between different TSOs (energy transmission infrastructure operators). CROSSBOW offers the regional transmission grid greater flexibility and robustness through these four aspects:

  • Improved control of exchange power at international interconnection points
  • New energy storage solutions
  • Improved communications and control
  • A clear definition of a transnational wholesale market, proposing a fair and sustainable remuneration for clean energy by defining new business models that support the participation of new actors and cost reduction.

The implementation of the project has also had a significant social and ecological impact. Thanks to CROSSBOW, more than 70,000 jobs have been created, the quality of energy services for more than 55 million citizens has improved, 3 tons of GHG have been saved and, finally, the increase in RES share (15.2 TWh) has reached 10%.

You can find the main results of the project on their YouTube channel.
